single Tranquility Base - Herstory
"Song is Existence.” To sing the song means to be present in what is present itself. It means : Dasein, existence.

A day in the life.. For the song Tranquility base, I began by playing piano and singing an improvised recording at home with my husband and dogs in the living room where I record. As I was improvising, my husband started to make a fire in our wood stove as it was raining and chilly outside. The sounds of my dogs getting up and my husbands making a fire were in the background of the recording and initially I had planned to do over, however I decided wanted to try to challenge myself to work with the existing recording and build upon the ambient sounds . This later led to what the arrangements and sounds I would further explore incorporating into the mix.This is Herstory. .. I later began to envision the composition as a supra mundane moment in a world where that unsuspecting moment in time becomes a historic document of an event of a family life shared and sung through the voice of a female protagonist. This saying of the Being becomes a defining moment in her story bringing a nod to historic sampled audio portrayals of moon launch and the juxtaposition of her story that would normally not be considered anything for the history books now becomes a tale that illustrates an expansion -"This happens in the world’s inner space. That space touches man when, in the inner recalling of conversion, he turns toward the space of the heart."

Winter Sun, is a song of renewal as when the sun appears after a dark time. Written and recorded last year,this song speaks of the capacity for revival after undue hardships, having been displaced and otherwise isolated.

ENCHANTED FOREST
The forest has always been a magical, rejuvenating, and healing place for me. This song is a departure from what I have been doing as I wanted to play with new sounds and rhythms. I have created a music video with personal video /photos of my time in the woods.
I wrote and recorded the song originally with just a piano. Later I went back and reconstructed the song including building arrangements that led to having the song’s tempo match the pace of me walking in the woods. I combined and blended software instruments to the original version with piano, voice, and natures sounds at the end of the song.

Poets, musicians, and artists have been inspired by forests from time immemorial. So why is it that with forests being extremely valuable resources for all, there seems to be a disconnect to the awareness of immeasurable wealth of sustenance they bring to not only human but wildlife as well.
